Luxury Vinyl Tile LVT Flooring Liverpool

Luxury Vinyl Tile LVT Liverpool Longstaffes

LVT Flooring Liverpool

LVT is an abbreviation for Luxury Vinyl Tiles, which is produced in 2 main shapes: tiles or planks.

Offering a premium alternative to traditional vinyl rolls, an LVT floor creates the look of a real wood, real stone or
ceramic floor. Luxury Vinyl Flooring can be used anywhere in the home, including in the kitchen and bathroom.

LVT also provides many practical benefits:
• Warmer and softer under-foot compared to laminates or tiles
• Hard-wearing durability and easy to keep clean
• Fully water-proof and stain resistant
• Sound insulated – ideal for any space including upstairs
• Can be used with most underfloor heating solutions

These benefits help to explain why LVT & SPC are amongst the fastest-growing flooring types in the UK.

Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) is a similar product but features a core that is normally comprised of around
60% calcium carbonate (limestone), polyvinyl chloride and plasticisers, offering a more rigid material than LVT.
SPC is typically used for a click-system installation, rather than glued down to the sub-floor.

Frequently Asked Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) Questions

What is LVT?

LVT is an abbreviation for Luxury Vinyl Tiles, which is produced in 2 main shapes: tiles or planks. Offering a premium alternative to traditional vinyl rolls, an LVT floor creates the look of a real wood, real stone or ceramic floor.

LVT also provides many practical benefits:
• Warmer and softer underfoot compared to laminates or tiles
• Scuff proof and easy to keep clean
• Fully water and stain resistant
• Hard-wearing durability
• Sound insulated so can be used upstairs
• Can also be used with underfloor heating

These benefits help to explain why LVT is one of the fastest-growing flooring types in the UK. It can also be referred to as “stick down LVT”, “glue down LVT” or “click vinyl”.

How much does LVT flooring cost?

Prices of LVT flooring range from £18.99 to £40+ per square yard, depending on the brand and product chosen.

‘Plank’ styles are typically cheaper than more complex designs such as herringbone or parquet.

We have invested heavily to bring you the widest selection of LVT flooring in Liverpool – giving you a compelling choice of colours, appearances and finishes. It’s a great quality product with a range of affordable options – at Longstaffes you can get the designer floor without the designer price tag!

How long does fitting / installation take?

One of our expert fitters usually takes 2-3 hours to fit a 15ft x 15ft area, depending on the shape of the room and the design of the flooring chosen. This estimate is for the period after the sub-floor preparation has taken place and the floor is level and smooth.

How is LVT made?

LVT is commonly made by creating multiple layers of PVC vinyl, which is mixed with various compounds to enhance hardness and durability. The multiple layers of vinyl are carefully compressed using a specialist rolling process, then dried using heat and air to ensure a resilient end-product.

The top layer can also feature an embossed finish, for example to mimic the natural detail or grooves found in real stone or wood, but without the difficulties in maintaining these other types of flooring.

What areas or rooms is LVT suitable for?

LVT is versatile and can be used in any room in the home. It’s ideal for bathrooms, kitchens and living rooms and is durable enough for higher traffic areas or commercial use such as hair salons and yoga studios. LVT is suitable for anywhere that moisture could be an issue, offering an ideal substitute to wooden floors.

What do I need to know about fitting / installation?

We offer 2 types of LVT: “dry back” (also known as glue down LVT) or “click system” (planks or tiles that click together as a floating floor).

For both types, the floor needs to be completely flat and level prior to installation which means that some sub-floor preparation may be required before installing your new LVT floor.
Dry back: this LVT type needs to be fully glued down to the sub-floor.

Click system: has a flexible click joint that’s fitted on to an underlay, which is important to ensure the floor is robust and level once installed. This system does not require any glue or adhesive.

Either type of LVT flooring is available for:
• Collection from store for DIY installation
• Expert fitting by one of our team
• Delivery within 40 miles (minimum order size applies)
