Carpets FAQs

Why choose Longstaffes for your new carpet?

It’s important to consider a range of factors when choosing your new carpet, such as the suitability of the carpet depending on where it’s going to be used in your home as well as your style and budget preferences.
Are you looking for a soft, luxurious feel or something hard-wearing?

Do you want to use a striped carpet to complement a hallway or stairs by drawing the eye and giving a sense of length? Maybe you’d prefer a plain carpet that can go well with any decor or style? Or perhaps you want to make a statement with a patterned carpet?
Whatever you’re looking for, at Longstaffes we offer experienced, impartial support to help you identify exactly what you want.

How much will my new carpet cost?

The cost of your new carpet depends on multiple different factors such as the size of the room(s), how many rooms,  the type of carpet and underlay you choose as well as the accessories such as any door plates or grippers required.

To give you an indication, our carpets start from £4.99 per square yard and our charge for fitting carpet is £2.40/sq yd, so it can cost less than £175 to carpet a 10’ x 13’ room (including underlay, door plates and grippers if required).

Our flooring experts are here to talk you through our huge range of carpets and anything else you need for your project when you visit our showroom or call us today.

Do you uplift existing carpets?

Yes, we can arrange to uplift and remove your old carpet at the same time as your fitting for an additional fee, payable to the fitter completing your job.

Do you have any roll ends or small budget carpets?

Yes, we do! We stock an extensive range of low budget carpets from just £4.99 / square yard as well as a huge selection of roll ends from previously cut carpets – ideal if you want a small remnant for a small price!

What are the main types of carpet?

Twist pile: this type of carpet is tightly twisted which make it hard-wearing and a great choice for high traffic areas like halls, stairs and landings.

Saxony: deep and luxurious under foot – Saxony carpets are ideal for bedrooms and living rooms.

Loop pile: is another hard-wearing choice but is not recommended for households with pets as claws can pull up the loops in this type of carpet.

Wool: a natural material, wool carpets are sustainable and very easy to clean.

With other options such as Nylon, the choices are endless…

Do you fit carpets?

Yes, we are pleased to offer our expert fitting service free-of-charge on areas over 15 square yards for carpets of £12.99+ .

If you have a smaller budget or area to cover, the cost is just £2.40 per square yard – just let us know if you’d like us to include fitting in your quote.

Equally, if you prefer to order carpet from us and use your own carpet fitter or lay the carpet yourself, we are happy to help on a supply-only basis.

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes, unlike other providers who charge for delivery even when fitting the goods, we deliver all fitted carpets to your home or business free of charge.

What widths of carpet rolls do you offer?

Most of the carpets our customers choose are made 4-metre or 5-metre wide, however we also offer 2m and 3m wide in selected ranges.

Speak to one of the team to discuss your requirements and we’ll help you find the best solution for you.
